Welcome to March Madness…book style!

During the March Madness tournament, I will be hosting my own version to narrow down the top ranked books on the blog! Follow on social media (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter) for updates and vote for which books you think should make it on instagram. Once each round is completed, the pictures below will be updated with the outcome.

There will also be a giveaway for one lucky reader for the book that manages to go all the way! (If the winner happens to already have the book, it will be for one of the other final four books of their choice.)

Book Seeds

Rules:

  • There will be no equivalent for “First Four” play in games

  • The “Top 64” were identified by the following:

    • Review published by March 15

    • Listed all the books that have a 5-star ranking

    • Any sequels in a series were removed, the first book in the series will be representative

    • Only full-length books (no anthologies, short stories, coffee table books, graphic novels etc.) will be included with the one exception of “The Opposite of Loneliness” (because I love it and it’s my party)

    • Any books I didn’t remember the full details for were removed

    • Any authors with more than one book in the top list were narrowed down to a single book

    • After the first pass, a “gut feel” purge was made to delete the narrow down to 64

    • Seeding was done by Goodreads average rating

    • Structure of Divisions:

      • Sorted by Fiction (16), Non-Fiction (16) and “Sci-Fi, Fantasy & Other” (32)

      • There were 2 extra Non-Fiction and the lowest ranked was moved to the “Sci-Fi, Fantasy & Other”

      • There was 1 extra Fiction and the one that seemed to fit the best with “other” was shifted
