Review:

This book was all around just fine – it was a great idea, but the way it was written wasn’t compelling for me.  I found Mina a bit annoying at times and I couldn’t tell if it was her character or if it was because it felt like the plot was throwing her around here and there as a character.  I really loved her best friend Nan and would enjoy seeing a spinoff around her.  The instalove was just ok, but it was more interesting how it developed towards the end, which is all I said without revealing spoilers.

The ending was a solid twist and was a bit more than I was expecting it to be, which saved the book from being a little too much of a YA duplicate.  The series has promise within the context, but I’m not sure I’ll continue.  For those who absolutely adore fairy tale retellings this will be a hit, but for everyone else I think it’ll be a little flat.

Warning: Contains violence and sexual references

Rating: 3 stars!

Who should read it? Big fans of fairy tale retellings and think a modern setting sounds intriguing.
