Review:

I loved reading this – it felt like a sequel to “Disney Wars” in a great way.  Iger definitely has strong self-awareness and I appreciated that he was able to discuss various things about his career without trying to paint it in a better light than it actually was.  The thinking behind the acquisitions of Pixar, Marvel and Lucasfilm were all extremely interesting to me though I could see how others would see it as a humble brag.  I do think that Iger doesn’t shy away from highlighting shortcomings and where he could have handled things better though.

There is a half-hearted attempt at sharing leadership lessons, but really the focus of the book is around the biographical aspects.   If you’re looking for a business book I think you could be slightly disappointed.  As someone who is a fan of Disney and has been tracking their strategic decisions with curiousity and hope, this was an awesome read that I’d highly recommend.  I do think that anyone who has a business interest could find it intriguing, after all Disney is a much large company than people sometimes think!
