When Treat Byrnes walks into her bookstore café, Eve Alexander wants to eat him up. Bad boy isn’t her usual flavor, but for the sexy contractor, she’s willing to take a walk on the wild side.
Treat meets Eve on a reconnaissance mission for his mother, who owns a neighboring teashop, but he keeps going back to Eve for her sweet smile and sassy shoes. He has a history of falling for damsels-in-distress, but Eve doesn’t need rescuing. Not even when her cafe is sabotaged.
But when Treat finds out the saboteur is his own mother, he knows he has to do something before things go too far. (Summary and book cover courtesy of goodreads.com)
This was an all-around solid story with two interesting main characters, but I also loved seeing the secondary romance for Treat’s mom. Eve is a great entrepreneur who is trying to branch out on her own and make things work. I enjoyed her go-getting attitude and independence. It bothered me that Treat didn’t tell Eve the truth sooner in the story, but of course I understand that there needs to be some sort of conflict in the book!
Overall this was a solid romance read, but there was nothing that really made it stand out for me. I did not read the first book in the series before this one, but I didn’t find it made things more difficult. This would be a fun solid beach read to bring on a trip where you may have a lot of interruptions.
